Instructional Goal:
The purpose of this training is to promote child safety by increasing the knowledge of Mandated Reporters, explaining the process for reporting abuse, and identification of the signs of abuse and neglect.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the roles of DHHS, the District Attorney, and Law Enforcement in child protection cases.
- Define abuse and neglect in accordance with Maine law.
- Identify indicators of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect.
- Respond appropriately to child disclosures of abuse or neglect.
- Follow the correct procedures for reporting suspected abuse to DHHS.
