Instructional Goal

This unit of instruction provides an overview of the procedures to be followed when responding to deaths, probable deaths and missing persons.  The procedures are based on the Maine Office of the Attorney General’s Protocol for responding to these situations.

Objective

After this unit of instruction, the student will be able to accomplish the following objectives as outlined in this lesson:

1.1.1   Summarize the importance of scene control.

1.1.2   Identify four of the ten specific procedures for investigating all deaths, probable deaths or missing persons’ cases.

1.1.3 Describe additional procedures for investigating these special circumstances.

1.1.4 Identify the protocol for issuing public statements and give three examples of information that may be released and three types of information that should not be released.
