  • Percent of persons aged 12 years and over with any illicit drug use in the past month: 11.2% (2017)
  • Percent of persons aged 12 years and over with any nonmedical use of a psychotherapeutic drug in the past month: 2.2% (2017)
  • The illicit drug use estimate for 2014 continues to be driven primarily by marijuana use and the non-medical use of prescription pain relievers, with 22.2 million people aged 12 or older reporting using marijuana within the past 30 days and 4.3 million people aged 12 or older using non-medical prescription pain relievers.
