Category 1: Residential treatment is for patients who are experiencing signs and symptoms of severe withdrawal. This treatment is in a 24-hour residential setting for a period of 7-45 days, depending on the facility.
Category 2: Residential treatment programs prepare the patient to re-enter the workforce and social settings by focusing on cultural, social, and vocational needs as well as other living skills. The duration of this treatment program is for up to 180 days.
Category 3: Residential programs are for patients with extensive substance abuse and / or coexisting disorders of substance abuse and mental illness. This residential treatment generally has duration of more than 180 days.
