SUMMARY:OUI Fundamentals for Prosecutors
DESCRIPTION:Instructors:\nScot Mattox\, Esq \nJoshua Saucier\, Esq. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n OUI Fundamentals for Prosecutors\n(Class is for prosecutors and BMV Hearings Examiners only!)\nOctober 19 @ 8:00 am – 4:30 pm\nRegistration is closed.\nPlease join us at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel and Conference Center in Bar Harbor for a vital training on the fundamentals of OUI investigation and prosecution and learn how you can help save lives on Maine’s roadways. \nBetween 2019 and 2023\, Maine lost 278 people to impaired driving. Effective prosecution increases the public’s perception that they will be caught (and convicted) if they commit OUI and increases general deterrence\, preventing OUI before it happens. \nAt this training you will learn what you need to know to effectively prosecute OUI charges. In addition to learning about common defenses\, motions to suppress\, and effective opening statements and closing arguments in impaired driving cases\, you can also expect to hear about field sobriety testing from certified SFST instructors and about chemical testing\, including the Intoxilyzer\, from Maine’s Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory. CLE credits are expected. \nLogistics: Hotel accommodations for Sunday night and lunch will be provided for those who register on time. Note that this training is grant funded\, and final grant approval is pending. \nContact Joshua Saucier for more information
