DESCRIPTION:Instructor:\nRon Lund \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Crime Scene Processing\nNovember 10 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm\nDeadline to register is October 26th!\nDirigo Safety’s Crime Scene Processing course provides participants with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely document\, secure\, collect\, preserve and package physical evidence while maintaining scene integrity and ensuring legal admissibility. Participants will apply recognized best practices while following Maine Rules of Evidence throughout classroom instruction and practical exercises. \nThis course is designed for newly assigned investigators and patrol officers who are interested in developing evidence processing skills and pursuing a career in crime scene management. Participants have the opportunity to purchase a complete evidence collection kit ($350 value) to assist them with proper crimescene management through proper collection techniques. All attendees are required to have an evidence kit during the training for full participation. \nCourse Objectives: \n\nExplain the roles and responsibilities of the first responding officer\, collaboration with investigators while focusing on crime scene management.\nDemonstrate proper procedures for securing and protecting a crime scene to prevent contamination\, loss\, or destruction of evidence.\nApply systematic crime scene search methods for various scene types and scenarios.\nDocument crime scenes using written notes\, video\, photography\, crime scene sketches\, scene and evidence logs and other specialized techniques with the use of forensic mapping/drones.\nProcess common crime scenes focusing on processing techniques including fingerprinting\, footwear and tire impressions\, tool mark impressions\, trace evidence\, bloodstain evidence\, and firearm related evidence.\nIdentify resources and other agencies to support and assist your investigations.\nPrepare clear\, accurate\, and complete required reports to show prosecutors how you accurately describe crime scene observations\, evidence collection and investigative actions.\n\nEquipment Needed: \nAll attendees to Dirigo Safety’s Crime Scene Processing training are required to have an evidence kit during the training for full participation.
