Designed for new and prospective FTOs\, the course equips participants with the skills to effectively train\, mentor\, and evaluate probationary officers. Topics include leadership\, ethics\, legal considerations\, adult learning strategies\, and proper documentation using standardized evaluation guidelines. Through practical exercises\, case studies\, and video analysis\, attendees will leave prepared to implement and sustain a professional\, accountable field training program. \nCourse Objectives: \n\nStudents will understand the scope and intricacies of the San Jose Field Training Model\nStudents will understand and apply the use of the Standardized Evaluation Guidelines along with all forms including Daily Observation Reports\, Remedial Worksheets\, and Side Evaluations.\nStudents will demonstrate the ability to evaluate trainee performance through a series of evaluation videos and case study exercises.\nStudents will summarize foundational leadership skills as they apply to direct supervision in the FTO process.\nStudents will analyze the legal and liability ramifications relating to the role as a Field Training Officer and first line supervisor.\nStudents will utilize the forms\, documentation and principles necessary to effectively teach\, train\, model\, lead and evaluate field trainees in a Field Training Program setting.\n\nEquipment Needed: \n\nLaptop\n\nMLEAP Accreditation Standard: \n\nThis course meets MLEAP Standard 3.12 – Field Training Officer Training
