Instructor Development is a three-day course that will provide the student with a fundamental understanding of instruction, presentation, and facilitation. Additionally, the course will afford students the opportunity to develop a block of instruction and the teaching skills required to facilitate it to law enforcement professionals within their agencies or departments. Furthermore, Instructor Development (Basic) will provide practical learning and application opportunities that will be valuable in every teaching and instruction setting.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to
- Identify the components of lesson planning and course concepts.
- Distinguish the various teaching and adult learning styles and how they translate into classroom instruction.
- Demonstrate aspects of teaching, training, and facilitation by using an array of resources and media.
- Apply the components of facilitating and presenting a topic of instruction.
- Design a lesson plan and provide a short media-aided period of instruction on a topic of their choosing.
