Grant Research & Writing Basics

November 18 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

As we face continuing inflation and economic concerns throughout the nation, public safety departments may be facing shrinking budgets. It is imperative to seek alternative funding measures, such as grants from the public and private sectors. We all know that some grants, and the relative funding opportunities, have been eliminated and/or cut back, but our course instructor is confidentthat this is temporary and the funds will flow again. It’s important for you and your department to have an edge on how to access and apply for those funds when that happens. This course will teach the basics of getting started in the grant research, writing, and acceptance process.

Course Objectives:

  • Research for a wide array of grant opportunities (public and private).
  • Establish an account with the Federal agencies that govern grant funding.
  • Properly write various types of grants.
  • What to expect post grant acceptance/award.
  • What to “watch and monitor” for public and private funding opportunities.

Equipment Needed:

  • Notetaking materials
  • Laptop or device that can access the Internet
