Advanced Crash Investigations

This training is ideal for patrol officers who want to increase their knowledge of crash dynamics and for officers interested in crash reconstruction. Officers respond to motor vehicle crashes more often than any other type of call and no two crashes are the same. If something is missed during the investigation it can lead to serious issues for parties involved, the investigator and the department responsible. This training will cover all aspects of crash investigation from the response to preparing for court and will provide participants with better knowledge of crash investigation and what resources may be needed to properly investigate.

Course Objectives:

• Learn the importance of having a solid foundation for crash investigation and the pitfalls of not being prepared.
• Gain a better understanding of what crash evidence is important and how to better interpret it.
• Understand what additional resources are available to aid in an investigation and how to locate them.
• Understand crash dynamics and how Newton’s 3 laws are used to investigate crashes.
