MLEAP Assessor & Program Manager Training

This course is designed for law enforcement professionals involved in the accreditation process for the Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (MLEAP). It provides participants with the skills necessary to assess Maine Police agencies, ensuring they comply with MLEAP standards. Attendees will learn to conduct comprehensive evaluations of agency policies, procedures, equipment, and operations, both on-site and off-site. The course offers valuable insights into best practices and enhances expertise in accreditation, management, and leadership. Course Instructor(s): Jim Willis, Chief Elliott Moya, Chief Andrew Booth, and Chief Lee Miller.
The training is a mandatory requirement to become an agency Program Manager and/or Assessor with the MLEAP program.
Course Objectives:
- Understand Accreditation Standards: Gain a comprehensive understanding of MLEAP standards and their importance in effective law enforcement.
- Conduct Thorough Assessments: Develop the skills necessary to review policies, procedures, facilities, and operations for MLEAP compliance.
- Enhance Professional Expertise: Develop skills in accreditation, management, and leadership for personal and agency growth.
- Facilitate Accreditation Readiness: Prepare agencies for accreditation by learning from others’ experiences.
- Collaborate with Professional Teams: Engage in collaborative assessment teams, to evaluate and improve law enforcement in Maine.
- Develop Leadership Skills: Strengthen leadership capabilities to guide and influence the accreditation process promoting improvement and accountability.
