This course is designed for all first responders and focuses on the significant behavioral and emotional changes that often accompany a career in public safety. Whether new to public safety or a seasoned veteran this course has benefit to all. Through interactive discussions, attendees will examine the unique cultural mindset of the profession and explore how it can impact personal and professional well-being. Participants will gain practical tools and strategies to maintain long-term physical and mental wellness in a high-stress field. Emphasis will be placed on fostering resilience, sustaining supportive relationships, and preparing for a healthy retirement.
Course Objectives:
- Recognize behavioral changes that occur during a public safety career and their impact on personal life.
- Understand how trauma and long-term stress affect physical and mental health.
- Explore strategies for building resilience and processing on-the-job experiences.
- Identify both workplace and off-duty risks that can lead to burnout or reduced life expectancy.
- Access and utilize wellness resources to support long-term health and a successful retirement.
