MLEAP Level 2 Training – 7.04 Authority to Arrest Outside Jurisdiction (E)
The Agency trains its sworn personnel on when they have the authority to arrest persons outside their original jurisdiction.
Course Description:
In this course law enforcement personnel will gain an understanding of what the Maine First Responders State-wide Mutual Aid Agreement is and how it affects them in their role as law enforcement officers. Additionally, this course will provide an overview of statewide arrest powers, its requirements, and limitations.
Learning Objectives:
- To provide a background of mutual aid agreements in Maine.
- To define Mutual Aid Agreements in Maine.
- To explain the scope of a mutual aid agreement.
- To demonstrate what the Optional Arrest Powers “Statewide Arrest Powers” are, and its’ limitations to law enforcement officers if the authority has been given.
