Raising the Standard of Law Enforcement in Maine
The Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (MLEAP) is more than a checklist—it represents a commitment to excellence, accountability, and community trust.
At Dirigo Safety, we partner with agencies throughout the accreditation process, providing expert guidance to make the path clear, efficient, achievable, and customized to each department’s needs.
What Is Accreditation?
Accreditation provides agencies with a proven framework to measure themselves against the highest professional standards.
Through the Maine Chiefs of Police Association (MCOPA) and MLEAP, agencies can strengthen operations, improve service delivery, and reduce liability – without overwhelming resources.
Why Seek Accreditation?
Accreditation demonstrates your department’s commitment to excellence and the highest standards of professional policing. Key benefits include:
- Credibility & Community Trust – Reinforce transparency and accountability with citizens and community leaders.
- Confidence for Leadership – Provide elected officials and city/town managers assurance in a department that exemplifies professionalism.
- Reduced Risk & Liability – Strengthen policies and practices to better defend against claims and litigation.
- Continuous Improvement – Proactively identify growth opportunities and stay aligned with evolving best practices.
