Gas Station Drugs

November 4 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Deadline to register is October 19th!

Gas station drugs are on the rise and so are the risks of impaired driving. This comprehensive training is designed for law enforcement, regulatory, and impaired-driving professionals investigating emerging gas station drugs and related impairment. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the emerging grey market and the growing prevalence of gas station drugs. The training equips participants with foundational knowledge of these substances, the dangers associated with their use, and the impairment profiles commonly observed during roadside screenings and Drug Influence Evaluations.

Course Objectives:

  • Define what constitutes “gas station drugs” (e.g., tianeptine, kratom, phenibut, synthetic cannabinoids, energy stimulants, and other OTC psychoactive products).
  • Identify gas station drugs based on their packaging, labeling, and marketing characteristics, including common color schemes, container types, branding language, and placement within retail environments.
  • Assess risk factors for driving impairment and articulate how these substances contribute to unsafe operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Explain how commonly encountered gas station drugs fit within the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) matrix, including their pharmacological classifications, expected physiological effects, and impairment indicators observed during a Drug Influence Evaluation.

Equipment Needed:

  • Notepad and pen
