Julie Scribner started her law enforcement career with the Vermont State Police in 2001. She spent approximately 1/3 of her career in the Field Force Division as a road Trooper, 1/3 of her career in the Criminal Division as a Detective Trooper and later Detective Sergeant, and 1/3 of her career in the Support Services Division as a Sergeant, Lieutenant, and a Captain. Much of her career she worked to promote diversity within the Department, and in later years focused on training, departmental culture, intersectionality, and empowering women in law enforcement.
Julie attained her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 2015 and a Master of Public Administration in 2019 ~ both from Norwich University.
Julie was recognized by USA Today in 2022 as Vermont’s Woman of the Year for her work in 2021 with the 30×30 Initiative. USA Today’s project celebrates women leaders who inspire change and champion equity in our communities. She retired as a Captain from the State Police in 2021, spent some time traveling, and has since settled down in central Maine.
When she isn’t working, Julie is likely to be found spending time exploring Maine with her four young grandchildren or with her pups, Jake and Trixie.
