First Responder Color Guard School

About

This 4-day school will teach students to be part of a First Responder color guard, using proper military etiquette and techniques.  Students will gain the knowledge and skills to be part of a team representing their agency and community, while honoring the US Flag, through an agency color guard.  Training and professionalism is the key to a color guard unit and teams must be committed to working together.  Through hands-on training and guidance by seasoned instructors, students will become proficient in marching, rifle/ax and flag handling and general color guard techniques.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in 3, 4, and 5-people honor guard marching techniques
  2. Execute proper US flag presentation and handling
  3. Understand and apply military drill and etiquette
  4. Perform various rifle/ax and flag movements
  5. Plan and prepare for color guard events
  6. Explain the importance of color guard in law enforcement and public relations

*Students should bring their Color Guard gear: flag, rifle (NO ammunition), axes, dress shoes/boots, uniform cover/hat, gloves, flag carriers, etc.
