Instructional Goal:

This unit will familiarize students with the essential sanitation standards established by the Department of Corrections Inspection Division. Implementing an effective sanitation program is crucial for controlling vermin and preventing the spread of infectious diseases within the facility.

Objectives:

After this course of instruction, the student will be able to:

• List the process for hygiene/sanitation screening of residents during admission process

• List four items which should be given to residents for hygiene purposes upon admission to the facility

• Define the standards for resident linen/blanket/towel exchange

• Define the standards for resident clothing exchange

• List four areas of the facility which needs to be clean and on what intervals

• Define when facilities need to be inspected for sanitation and by whom

• Define the standards for trash removal in the facility

• Define when and who inspects the kitchen for sanitation

• Define cleanliness of workers

• Define outside maintenance

• Define Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
