This course introduces students to the investigation of crimes related to sexual assault.  Socialized attitudes, beliefs, and practices contribute to a culture in which sexual assault occurs, and this course will familiarize students with the experiences of victims and perpetrators of sexual assault, before shifting to emphasize the appropriate law enforcement response to victims and perpetrators.  This class describes the span of victims of sexual assault and the impacts they experience.  The class focuses on how misconceptions about victims and/or sexual assault dynamics affect the way that victims and law enforcement officers interact.  The course also reviews securing the crime scene(s), gathering information, and evidence collection.
