Alfred Giusto

Instructor

Alfred Giusto became a police officer in 2008 with the Topsham Police Department and transferred to the South Portland Police Department in 2012. Giusto was awarded Officer Of The Year for the Topsham Police Department in 2011 and Officer Of The Year for the South Portland Police Department in 2017.

Giusto is a certified instructor in Taser and M.A.R.C. (Mechanics Of Arrest Restraint & Control). Giusto is also a master instructor through Modern Warrior Defensive Tactics Institute, Lindenhurst, N.Y., and is certified in Defensive Tactics for civilians and police.

Prior to being a police officer, Giusto owned and operated his own martial arts school in Brooklyn, NY, and was reviewed in The New York Sun as, “A Martial Art tough enough for the streets of New York.”

Giusto also taught at TREXPO East, Chantilly, VA, in 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2010 and has had articles published by Police Magazine. Giusto has taught various seminars in NYC, at Sig Arms Academy, Exeter, NH, and at Topsham and South Portland Police Departments.

Giusto was the SRO (School Resource Officer) at South Portland High School for six years and was an integral part in implementing restorative justice practices for juveniles and helping to form Sopo Unite, a community based coalition that helps prevent youth substance use. Giusto is also certified in CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).
